Whether for cosplay projects or DIY home works, resin is a useful albeit sticky approach. The silver lining to my complete novice approach to using resin, was being able to find effective ways of cleaning off resin from my hands and porcelain and stainless steel metal sinks. I won't be covering what we should have done (if we're reading this it's already too late), these methods are what worked for me (and hopefully for you!):
How to clean resin off hands:
You will need:
Wet a dish scrub with water and dish soap (I didn't find a difference between cold and warm water, altho warm water felt more pleasant for the skin). Use the green side, and SCRUB. Just scrub and scrub and keep scrubbing. If you're using the one pictured above and the green side feels too abrasive, switch to the yellow. You'll have to keep scrubbing for 10 - 15 minutes, possible even longer (it took me about 30 minutes). Remember, you HAVE to scrub and MEAN it. Rinse here and there to check how much resin is left.
Most of the resin will rub off onto the dish scrub and you'll have to toss it when done, there's no salvaging it. Even after all the effort, you'll most likely still have a bit of resin still stuck to your nails, but at least your hands will not be unforgivingly sticky.
It WILL be havoc on your skin, be sure to moisturize with lotion after.
How to clean resin off the bathroom sink:
You will need:
Note: Bar Keeper's Friend is THE cleaner that I use when I need to get rid of the toughest stains in the kitchen and bathroom. It's safe enough to use on cookware, and not harmful to the skin during occasional usage. This is my go-to and I found it useful on removing resin. Remember, like all cleaners, be sure to double check the surface that you plan on using it on (Bar Keeper's Friend should never be used on: cast iron, granite, marble, wood, fabric, leather, or painted surfaces).
Follow the instructions on the Bar Keeper's Friend bottle and apply it to the resin stuck on the sink and faucets. Let it sit for one minute, then scrub using a dish scrub. For large bits, use a plastic scraper and scrape to remove.
You may need to put in a bit of effort to scrub the resin off, and it should come off eventually. I finally managed to clean the resin completely off the faucets this way.
