Here's a simple tutorial with easy to follow pictures to make your own homemade sprinkles. Add a bit of Kingdom Hearts to your festivities! Use the KH Sprinkle Stencil to create sprinkles shaped as the keyblade, sea salt ice cream, kingdom crown, and paopu fruit.
Use royal icing as it hardens well. I tested it with cookie icing and chocolate, neither held the shape or broke easily. The sprinkles are a little delicate, but sure to handle them with care when creating and decorating.
I'm not a fan of synthetic food coloring and used natural alternatives. If you use powders, use a hand mixer to blend in the powders evenly, if you do it by hand, it might leave unsightly specks. This is what I used:

If your icing is a little wet, the sprinkle surface won't be as smooth when you lift the stencil. Here's two examples where the icing was right consistency, and the other was too wet:
It may take a few tries to get the right consistency or technique down. You can make them in different colors, add more details, or even use the stencils with an airbrush for cookie and cake designs. Have fun decorating! :)
