How to Make Tifa's Drink from FFVII Rebirth

This drink is the one Tifa is seen with during the group's outing at Costa del Sol. I opted to make one to pair with her swimsuit for a photoshoot. This guide will explain how to make it from resin, and to layer resin with an slight ombre effect. I hope it will be useful for others looking to do a Tifa cosplay! The drink I made didn't turn out as I wanted, I think everyone would do a much better job than I did. :D

Recommendations

• WEAR GLOVES. I can not emphasize enough the important to wear gloves. Resin can NOT be washed, rinsed, or wiped away. If it gets on your hands, you would not be able to wash it away with warm water and soap (the exception is if it was a teeny tiny small amount like a tiny drop). It is unrelentingly STICKY and will stick to any non-silicone surface it comes into contact with. Which comes the next point:
• Lay down newspaper or anything to catch drips. If it gets on your table, it can't be wipe it away with a paper towel; you'd need to quickly and immediately wipe it and clean the spot with rubbing alcohol to remove it completely. Some folks recommend to just let it harden then pick it off afterwards. This would work with stainless steel, but other surfaces may not work (nor react well to rubbing alcohol), you're far better off laying down protective sheets beforehand.
• Have everything laid out and prepared.

You will need:

•     Two part resin epoxy
•     Fake Orange Wedge
•     Fake Cherry
•     Fake Ice Cubes
•     Purple Orchid Flower
•     Acrylic Paint
•     Plastic Wine Glass
•     Krazy Glue

Material Notes:

• Purchase: I bought all the materials from Amazon.
• Purple Orchid Flower: In the game it appears they use purple orchids, they're also used used to garnish drinks in real life. Amazon does have fresh purple orchids (search Fresh Purple Dendrobium Orchid Blossoms), they're a little expensive as a one-time use prop unless they're used with other projects (real drinks, leis, food garnish, decor, hair clip, etc). I used an artificial purple flower I took off a purple lei:
  
• Wine Glass: Resin can be heavy, you'd want to use a sturdier plastic cocktail glass instead of the one-time use party cocktail plastic glasses.
• Resin: Resin will become heavier as it hardeneds. As it sets, it will start compacting the layers. You will need to pour a bit more for the layers to even out in the end. See how much of the red I used, and how barely visible it is in the final product:
  

  

Instructions:

Before starting, remember to wear gloves and lay down newspaper to catch drippings.

1. Following the instructions of the epoxy, mix three batches of resin. Be sure to use resin safe cups (regular disposable plastic cups like Solo would work). When fully mixed, carefully add in the acrylic paint and stir gently to mix until the color is achieved. For this drink we would need red, orange, and a light green (I made mine a bit too dark).
2. Very slowly and carefully pour in the red colored resin into the wine glass. As I mentioned above, resin will get heavy as it sets, it will start compacting downwards. Pour more red resin than I did:

   

3. For the second layer, you can wait an hour for the resin to set a little before pouring in the next layer, but for a more ombre look, very slowly and carefully pour in the orange colored resin. Pour the resin onto a stick and let it flowly gently into the wine glass, and spread out across the surface as you pour. To get a cleaner edge, finish pouring the layer, then use the stick and very gently even out the meeting edges (the first pic shows a bit more ombre, the second pick I used a stick to clean it further).

   

   

4. Repeat for the last green colored resin layer.

   

5. After pouring the last layer, wait about one hour for the resin to set a little. You want it to set just enough so you can add the garnishes without it sinking to the bottom. I had a bit of trouble with the cherry and orange wedge moving, and ended up using a bit Krazy glue to keep it in place.
6. The resin will feel hot as it dries, this is normal as the chemicals reacts. Let it dry for 24 hours.
